USD 308 Board to consider grant for workforce opportunities

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson USD 308 School Board will go over a grant application that will help provide more exposure to students in work-based learning programs.

The district and the Career and Technical Education Academy are seeking approval to apply for the Scale High-Quality Work-Based Learning Pilot Grant for $37,500. The grant would be in cooperation with the ESSDACK Educational Service Center.

The district hopes to develop new work-based learning opportunities, job shadows, internships and youth apprenticeships.

The vision is to develop a model that can be sustained and duplicated in the future to connect students to work-based learning opportunities by implementing a regional approach.

The matter goes before the USD 308 School Board during tonight’s meeting starting at 6 p.m. in the district offices at 1520 N. Plum.
