HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Voter turnout for the primary election in Reno County was not quite what was predicted by the County Clerk’s office, but higher than previous primary elections.

Although the numbers won’t be official until the votes are canvassed, the election turnout was about 29.44 percent. Reno County has 40,192 registered voters. With several contested races, more residents went to the polls, but it is still below the projected 30-31 percent the clerk’s office expected.

In the last primary election, Reno County voter turnout was below 22 percent.
