HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The voter turn out was very low as expected during Tuesday’s election. There was an exception and that was in the Nickerson School District and South Hutchinson where patrons voted on the school bond issue.

Voter turnout for the Hutchinson City Council ranged from 16 to 19 percent in the three seats that were up for election.

But with the bond issue and Sunday liquor sales on the ballot, voter turnout in USD 309 and South Hutchinson was better. And those two questions also provided better turn out for other city positions in those areas.

The voter turnout by South Hutchinson residents was 41.6 percent for the Sunday liquor sales question, while 43 percent of patrons in USD 309 cast a ballot for the school bond question.

The Highlands held city council elections last night with voter turnout was better than 64 percent.
