A group of organizations that serve young learners will celebrate the Week of the Young Child April 14 to 20. Groups sponsoring the events include Reno County Head Start.

Events begin from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14, with activities at the Hutchinson Zoo, 6 Emerson Loop, in Carey Park.

From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, families with young learners are invited to the Kansas Kids Museum in the Hutchinson Mall. Tuesday, April 16, the Hutchinson Public Library, 9th and Main, will have a special story time from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, April 17, Dillon Nature Center, 3002 East 30th, will host young children from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and will include a family scavenger hunt.

Events culminate during Hutchinson’s Third Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. April 18 at Avenue A Park. There will be a chalkfest for young artists, an obstacle course in the Avenue A Water Park, therapy dogs from Hutchinson Kennel Club, Poetry in Motion Dancers at 6:30 p.m. and information booths from a wide range of early childhood programs.
