Well Known Chef To Speak At Hutch High

A Hutchinson High School alumni and nationally known chef who focuses on healthy cooking will be speaking at the high school on Oct. 18.

Arlyn Hackett, a member of the Hutch Huigh Class of 1963, lives in San Diego and will be in Hutchinson for the 50th reunion of his class on October 18 and 19. Hackett is the author of numerous gourmet cookbooks focusing on healthful eating and had a TV cooking show for four years on PBS that aired on 275 stations nationwide.

He will speak to classes from about 8:30 a-m to noon on Oct. 18.

Additionally, Hackett has taught at-risk teenagers as a faculty member at the Regional Occupational Program, located at Garfield High School in San Diego, Calif. In 2007, he was named Teacher of the year at his school. He also is a culinary teacher at The New School University in New York City, a position he has held for nearly 30 years.
