HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 19-year-old Goddard man was taken to the hospital after an altercation just north of the Hutchinson city limits early Sunday.

Jacob Doherty was apparently struck in the head with a glass bottle during the altercation in the 3500 block of North Hendricks. Officers and Reno County EMS personnel jim injured and bleeding in the back yard.

But, Reno County Sheriff Captain Steve Lutz says he may have been attacked by as many as 12 people. The party believed to involve students at Hutchinson Community College. He says it started with Hutchinson Police being called to the report of an aggravated battery, but then realized the home is actually in the county, so the Sheriff’s office took over the investigation. He tells us that they are still conducting interviews, so no arrest have been made.

Doherty was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment of a laceration to his head and other inuries. He was still hospitalized Monday morning according to Lutz.
