WICHITA (AP) – The new year was only hours old when Wichita police began investigating two homicides.

Police say they were called to a convenience store about 2 a-m, Sunday after a car full of people drove up with a person who had been shot. Police say a group of people were leaving a party when someone shot into their vehicle, striking the man. He died later at a hospital.

About 2:30 a-m., police were called to a southwest Wichita apartment complex, where they found an injured man lying on the sidewalk. He died at a Wichita hospital.

The two victims’ names, and other details of the cases, have not been released.
