WICHITA – The Wichita State men’s basketball team moved up one spot to #7 in the nation this week in the Coaches Poll. The Shockers (13-0) are off to the best start in school history; WSU’s lone game last week was an 11-point home win over Davidson. Wichita State is one of seven undefeated teams remaining in Division I

In the Coaches Poll, WSU jumped over Louisville (11-2), which lost by seven points at 15th-ranked Kentucky. WSU lost to Louisville last season in the Final Four, as the Cardinals eventually won the national championship.

In the Associated Press poll, WSU moved up two spots this week to #8; Wichita State jumped over Louisville, and Villanova (11-1), which suffered its first loss of the season in a 16-point loss at #2 Syracuse.

Kansas (8-3) did not play last week; the Jayhawks remain ranked #16 in the A.P. poll this week, but dropped one spot down to #17 in the Coaches Poll, leap-frogged by Kentucky. Kansas State (9-3) has won seven straight games; the Wildcats received a few points this week in the A.P. poll, placing KSU among the top 36 in the nation.
