A 23-year-old Wilson, Kansas man who led local law enforcement on three separate car chases during the Christmas holiday season has been formally charged in four separate cases.

In the first case, Scott Lutz is accused of misdemeanor theft, for allegedly being in possession of a stolen 1991 Chevy Pickup.

Lutz is also charged with possession of methamphetamine, interference with law enforcement, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

In another case that goes back to January 2nd, Lutz has been charged with attempted manufacture of methamphetamine, being in possession of ephedrine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, and no insurance. As the charges were being read, Lutz admitted he has a drug problem and needs treatment.

A few of the bonds were lowered based on the recommendation of the state, but in one case bond was raised to 50-thousand. Total bond for all cases is now set at 75-thousand dollars.

Lutz was arrested by officers from the Reno County Sheriff’s Office and Buhler Police after a stake out for the suspect who had been eluding law enforcement over the past few weeks.

Now that formal charges have been filed, the three cases involving felonies will be placed on a waiver-status docket for January 24, while the case involving a misdemeanor charge will be on a different docket for February 16.
