Stafford County Fire crews have been busy working a fire in that county this afternoon. Director of Emergency Services for Stafford County, Steve Moody says the barn was completely destroyed.

Moody says they don’t know the exact cause, but could have been electrical. He there was plenty of dry material in the barn, and adds, the barn itself was an old style structure. He says it went up quickly and spread quickly.

The fire was located on a farmstead 2-miles west, and approximately 3-miles south of the town of Seward in northern Stafford County.

Assisting with fighting the fire was Great Bend Fire Department, along with several of the Stafford County Fire Departments. Moody says they are pretty grateful for the assistance of those departments, because it made it easier to get the fire under control. He says the home on the property located north of the barn was also threatened with the high winds, but luckily it was a little west of the barn as well.
