Barbara A. Hahn | 1951 – 2018 |

Barbara Ann Hahn, 66, died Saturday, May 26, 2018. She was born October 13, 1951, at Davenport, Oklahoma, the daughter of Guy and Helen (Adams) Martin.

She was a graduate of Chandler High School, Chandler, Oklahoma, and Wichita State University. Barbara was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson. She was a retired social worker for the State of Kansas with 19 years of service.

On May 12, 1977, she married William Henry Hahn in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He survives. Also surviving are: children, Brandon of Wichita, and Brandi Hahn of Salina; step children, Lynn Hahn and wife Tammy of Rogers, Arkansas, and Susan Hahn of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Colt Hahn, of the home, Raelynn Hahn and Ethan Hahn both of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Buhler East Cemetery with Pastor Kent Pederson presiding. Visitation will be from 12 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Kristi Lou Laster | 1950 – 2018 |

Kristi Lou Laster born June 17, 1950 joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 25, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Laster Sr. and Peggy Laster and niece, Tanya Laster.

She is survived by her brother Ralph Laster Jr. and sister-in-law Jerri Laster, niece Tarissa and husband Steve Helmes, great-nieces Hannah, Hailey, and Rada Helms, nephew Damian Laster, great-niece Sydney, great-nephews Liam and Vaughn Laster and her adopted sister and forever best friend, Jeannette Walters.

Kristi loved the Lord and lived to share her love and knowledge of Him with anyone who would listen. She has touched so many lives. She was a member of Wyoming Park Bible Fellowship and a Sunday School teacher for the Women of Faith Class for nine years until her failing health prevented her from continuing.

She was proud of her accomplishment of becoming a nurse and loved to serve the people she came into contact with. Kristi was always willing to help wherever and whenever she was needed. She was a great friend and counselor, and saved many lives through her knowledge of and love for people. Kristi was an avid affirmer, always lifting others up, encouraging them, showing them their value and how special they were. She was bold and not afraid to speak the truth, but always did it out of love.
Kristi served her Lord Jesus Christ with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service was held at Wyoming Park Bible Fellowship Church, 2260 Porter St. Wyoming, MI 49519. Kristi will be laid to rest 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Partridge Cemetery in Partridge, Kansas.

Margaret Joann Graham | 1928 – 2018 |

Margaret Joann Graham, 89, of Hutchinson, died May 24, 2018, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 4, 1928, in Hutchinson, to Charles A. and Effie K. (Sames) Chandler, whose family were among some of the early pioneers of Hutchinson.

Joann graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1946 and received a degree of Certified Professional Secretary from Salt City Business College. She worked for Stevens Plumbing, FHA, and Packaging Corporation of America, from which she retired in 1985 after 24 years as purchasing agent. Joann also was owner and operator of Joann’s Software. She was a former member of Altrusa International and the National Secretaries Association.

Joann is survived by: son, Ronald Wilson (Linda) of Hutchinson; daughter, Kathleen Niemeir (Frank) of Woodstock, GA; daughter-in-law, Jan Harlow (John) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Derek Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Vicky Iverson, Sara Fountain, Molly Niemeir; eight great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Richard L. Wilson; sisters, Clara Ogan and Grace King.

Memorials may be made to Reno County Food Bank or Christian Soup Ministry, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Richard E. “Dick” Brown | 1948 – 2018 |

Richard E. ‘Dick’ Brown, 69, of Partridge, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018. He was born June 11, 1948, in Webb City, Missouri, to Robert Dale and Blanche Louise (Ervin) Brown. Dick graduated from Cherokee County Rural High School in Columbus, Kansas, in 1966. He was second in the state for high school wrestling. Dick attended Dodge City Junior College, Emporia State University, and Kansas State University, where he played football. He was also named an All-American while playing football for Dodge City Junior College. Dick owned Pro-Fab for 20 years.

On March 12, 2001, he married Patricia Roach in Hutchinson. They were together 23 years before marrying, for a total of 40 years together.

Dick is survived by: wife, Patricia of Partridge; son, Jade Brown (Heather); granddaughter, Alexandria Brown; grandson, Milo Jordan Brown, all of Lawrence; stepdaughter, Keena Burnet (Tim) of Manchester, Oklahoma; brother, Bob Brown (Linda) of Hutchinson; sisters, Peg Buchanan (Gary) of Eudora, Barbara Kirk of Fort Scott, Anita Robison (Steve) of Columbus; close friend, Phil Hornbeck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Per his wishes, there will be no service.

Memorials are suggested to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter or Blackjack Cemetery in Asbury, Missouri, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Helen L. Goble | 1923 – 2018 |

Helen L. Goble, 94, formerly of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Eudora, Kansas. She was born July 8, 1923, in Hutchinson, to John S. and Bessie Ellen (Jones) Armstrong. Helen graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1941. She was baptized at South Hutchinson Christian Church. Helen was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Helen was a unique individual, who inspired her children to follow their hearts. She was ‘one smart cookie’, with a sense of humor and love for games. She was an also an avid fan of KU, Kansas State, and Royals baseball. Her pastimes included playing cards, word games, puzzles, and studying the dictionary. A truly good person, she was blessed with a sweet disposition and strongly held values. Her love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren was unconditional, and she was very proud of all of them. She will be missed by all, and in our hearts forever.

On February 24, 1943, she married James Arthur Goble in Hutchinson. He died January 4, 1998.

Helen is survived by: daughters, Linda O’Neal of Eudora, Marsha Emig (Dave) of Emporia; son, James Goble Jr. (Dana) of Lawrence; former son-in-law, Bud Montford of Blackwell, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Jan Montford; son-in-law, Butch O’Neal; sisters, May Ryan, Ruby Lambert, Ruth Schewe; and brother, John Armstrong Jr.

Graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Mitchell Cemetery, West 56th and Pennington Road, Hutchinson, with Pastor Howard Wagler officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, prior to the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mitchell Cemetery Care Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Roger Allen Daines | 1949 – 2018 |

U.S. VeteranRoger Allen Daines, 68, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born November 24, 1949, in Hutchinson, to Fred and Marjorie Ann (Morawitz) Daines Jr. Roger graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968, and then joined the United States Navy, serving for four years. He worked for various companies, retiring as a truck driver. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, Roger never knew a stranger. He enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, yard work (especially flowers), and woodworking.

On December 7, 2000, he married Teresa (Turner) Walters. They enjoyed almost 18 years of marriage.

Roger is survived by: wife, Teresa of Hutchinson; son, Matthew Turner (fiancée, Elizabeth) of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; daughters, Jessica Walters (Mike) of Hutchinson, Jeorjetta Walters of Pratt; nine grandchildren; mother, Marjorie ‘Dolly’ Daines of Hutchinson; sisters, Connie Stucky (Richard) of Pretty Prairie, Cheryl Schneider (Gordon) of Haven, Addie Sanchez (Steve) of Hutchinson; sisters-in-law, Patricia Augmon (Sonny) of Massachusetts, Pamela Turner, Loretta Starns, Pennierae Turner, all of Colorado; brother-in-law, Bill Turner (Marilyn) of Newton; numerous nieces and nephews; and his two truck-driving fur partners, Skipper and Shorty.  Roger was preceded in death by his father and brother, Jerry Wayne Daines, Jr.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Dr. Roy Jaye officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
