Dean K. Bohlen | 1938 – 2017 |

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Dean K. Bohlen, 78, died June 3, 2017, at Pleasant Hills Home Plus, Hutchinson. He was born October 25, 1938, in Downs, to Fred E. and Saralee (Easterly) Bohlen. Dean graduated from Downs High School in 1956. He worked for Cessna/Eaton for 41 years as a tool and die maker leader and retired in 2001. Dean was a member of Reno County Parkinson’s Support Group and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

On October 4, 1959, he married Sherrie Ann Lane in Downs. They shared 57 years of marriage.

Dean is survived by: wife, Sherrie of the home; sons, Twigg Bohlen and wife Susan of Cypress, TX, Tad Bohlen and wife Carla of Claremore, OK, Ty Bohlen and girlfriend Angela of Hutchinson; sisters, Evon Henke of Osborne,  Alice Becker of Columbus, NE, Carmen Miller of Goddard; 8 loving grandchildren; and 2 loving god children.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place.

Private family celebration of life service will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Early Learning Center at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Denise Fangrow | 1957 – 2017 |

SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Denise Kaye Fangrow, 60, of South Hutchinson, died June 3, 2017, at her home.  She was born May 24, 1957, in Manhattan, to Allen L. and Ilene J. Jones Roth.

She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1975 and was a homemaker.

Denise is survived by: son, John Roth of Hutchinson; daughter, Angel Reichert of Montana; mother, Ilene Roth of Hutchinson; sister, Diane Roth of Hutchinson; brothers, David Roth of Lyons and Daniel Roth of Hutchinson.  She was preceded in death by her father, Allen Roth and sister-in-law, Dana Roth.

Memorial service for Denise Fangrow, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 9, 2017, at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Steve Sears officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Denise Fangrow Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Royals rally from 6-run deficit

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Mike Moustakas hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning after Kansas City rallied from a six-run deficit, and the Royals snapped the Houston Astros’ 11-game winning streak with a 9-7 victory last night. Moustakas drove an 0-1 pitch from Ken Giles out to right with Salvador Perez aboard. Moustakas had four hits and three RBIs.

Helen Marie Miller | 1927 – 2017 |

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Helen Marie Miller, 90, died June 3, 2017, at Sunshine Meadows Nursing Home, Buhler. She was born May 16, 1927, in Hutchinson, to Pearl Benton and Maude (Gamble) Ball. She was a homemaker and member of Sandhill and Circle 6 Saddle Clubs. Helen enjoyed
riding horses, motorcycles and traveling to Texas every winter to vacation. On December 25, 1947, Helen married Percy C. Miller in
Hutchinson. He died January 27, 1992.

Survivors include: son, Mike Miller and Rose Stout grandchildren, Timothy Miller and wife Anna,
Amanda Thrash and husband Travis; great-grandchildren, Christian Miller and Aspen Thrash, all of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by; her parents; sisters, Vada LaForge and Bonnie Worster; and brother, Robert Benton Ball.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Steve Sears presiding. Friends may call
from 5 p.m. to 9 pm. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made
to Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Timothy Bryan Tedder | 1954 – 2017 |

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Timothy Bryan Tedder, 63, died June 3, 2017, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 11, 1954, in Hutchinson. A nearly life-time resident of Reno County, Tim attended Partridge Grade School and Pretty Prairie Grade School, Pretty Prairie High School and graduated from Bladensburg High School in Riverdale, Maryland. He attended Hutchinson Community College. On Dec. 28, 1974, Tim married Glennys Irene Hiebert in South Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: son, Jason of Hutchinson; mother, Anna Jean Tedder of Raymore, Missouri; sister, Gail (Red) Long of Spokane; four brothers, Michael (Gay) of Leawood, Kansas, Loren (Marcia) of Cypress, Texas, Lynn (Karla), of Lynn Massachusetts, Chris (Danna) of St. Charles, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Tim was preceded in death by his daughter, Emily Tedder and his father, Bryan Tedder. Tim was passionate about serving his community and was especially interested in helping and educating young people and sharing a living history of farming. He served on the South Hutchinson City Council, as mayor of South Hutchinson, as state representative for the 101st District, and on the Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees. He was interested in antique tractors and vintage one-cylinder engines, participating in antique tractor pulls and exhibiting vintage engines at the state fair.

Graveside service will be 9 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 West 4th Avenue, Hutchinson, for family and close friends. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Journey @Yoder Mennonite Church Activity Center, Yoder, with Pastors Howard Wagler and Dale Kauffman presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorial gifts may be made to Journey Mennonite Church or HCC Endowment Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Langston’s family sues NCAA

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — The family of a former Pittsburg State college football player who killed himself in 2014 is suing the NCAA, questioning the governing body’s handling of concussions including more than 100 they say factored into Zack Langston’s death. The federal lawsuit filed Friday in Kansas City, Kansas, also accuses the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association of negligence.

Astros extend win streak against Royals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Yuli Gurriel hit a three-run homer, Brian McCann had a two-run shot and the Houston Astros beat the Kansas City Royals 7-3 last night for their 11th straight win. It’s the longest winning streak in the majors this season and one shy of the Astros’ record.
