Geraldine P. Baker | 1927 – 2019 |

Geraldine P. Baker, 92, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019 at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS.

Geraldine was born March 8, 1927, in Comstock, MI, the daughter of James E. and Sylvia M. (Coans) Maitner. She worked at the Hutchinson Clinic as a PBX Operator for many years. Geraldine was a member of the Eastern Star and Grace Episcopal Church.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; daughter, Patricia A. Baker; daughter – in – law, Edna Baker; and a son – in – law Bill Pierson.

She is survived by her children, Bonnie Pierson and Terry M. Baker; grandchildren, Ashelle (Jesse) Neill, Stacie (Sidney) Schultz, Mandie Works, Michael (Nebuen) Baker, and Adam Baker, and two great grandchildren, Jade Kuntz and Brock Doolittle.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS, with Father Ted Blakley officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, Ks. Memorials may be given to Hospice House or Cancer Council of Reno County and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.

Dr. Norman E. Hagley | 1935 – 2019 |

Dr. Norman E. Hagley, 83, of Hutchinson, died September 25, 2019, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born October 31, 1935, in Randle, WA, to James William, Jr. and Era Lucille (Smith) Hagley. Norman graduated from Zanesville High School, Zanesville, OH, and Transylvania University, Lexington, KY. He received his doctorate degree from Lexington Theological Seminary. Norman served as a Disciples of Christ minister for over 40 years, serving in Lima, OH, Omaha, NE, with the final church he served in Danville, KY.

After retirement, Norman worked as the hospital Chaplain in Danville, KY. He was a lifelong avid athlete, playing racquetball, softball, scuba diving, and bicycling. He enjoyed cheering for The Ohio State football team and University of Kentucky basketball team. But most of all, Norman enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren when they participated in various sporting events and school activities.

In 1958, he married Janet Carol Nichols. They shared almost 55 years of marriage before her death April 20, 2013.

Norman is survived by: children, Dr. Michael Hagley (Stacey) of Hutchinson, Mark Hagley (Starlene Matzen) of Ames, IA, Carol Gramentine of Fort Worth, TX, Cynthia Braden of Rockwall, TX; sister, Wanda Hagley of Zanesville, OH; and grandchildren, Taylor Hagley, Kate Gramentine, John Ross Gramentine, Benjamin, Luke, Shelby, and Sydney Braden, Steven, Christopher, and Layni Hagley, and Ashlyn, Sydnee, and Gracie Foster.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty Dailey and Mary Lou Smith.

Norman’s family will miss him terribly. They plan to honor his loving memory with a private service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County or Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Rev. Henry J. Hartman | 1940 – 2019 |

U.S. Veteran

The Reverend Henry J. Hartman, 79, died September 25, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born June 5, 1940, in Cuero, Texas, to Henry W. and Emma (Blank) Hartman.

Pastor Hartman graduated from Cuero High School, Cuero, TX. He then served in the United States Navy for three years. Pastor Hartman then attended Midland Lutheran College, Fremont, Nebraska, and Hamma School of Theology, Springfield, Ohio. He was ordained into the Lutheran Church in America ministry June 21, 1970, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Cuero, Texas. Pastor Hartman served parishes in Snyder, Texas, Windom, Kansas, Russell, Kansas, and Hutchinson, Kansas.

On June 5, 1966, he married Rebecca ‘Becky’ Lovdahl in Monmouth, IL. Pastor Hartman is survived by: his wife of 53 years, Rebecca, Nickerson, Kansas; children, daughter, Cynthia Wright (Wade), Little River, Kansas, and their five children, Lynae Maust (Marcus) and their daughter, Marlin, Emily Leonard (David) and their son, Jaxon, Ethan Wright (Samantha), Madison Wright and Lucy Wright; son, Matthew Hartman (Allison) of Bentonville, AR, and their daughter, Natalie; Patricia Stinchcomb (Jason) of Aledo, TX, and their children, Jenna and Charlie; sister, Doris Kay Purinton of Houston, Texas, and her two sons and daughter and their families. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Charles Lee Hartman; and sister, Charlene G. Hartman.

A Service of Thanksgiving will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2019, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2019, in the Emanuel Lutheran Church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to BrightHouse (formerly known as the Sexual Assault-Domestic Violence Center), or the church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Lynda Lou Dix | 1947 – 2019 |

Lynda Lou Dix, 72, died September 27, 2019, at her home. She was born May 27, 1947, in Wichita, the daughter of Howard and June (Fogleman) Hill.  Lynda graduated from Herington High School and worked for the Herington Times newspaper for over 23 years as the advertizing manager and bookkeeper.  She enjoyed playing bridge and traveling with family, especially her daughter.  Lynda loved her pets and visiting with her friends.

On December 14, 1964, she married James D. ‘Jim’ Dix in Abilene.  They shared 55 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are daughter, Deanna Dix-Brown and husband Gary, of Pratt.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place.  Graveside service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019, in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, with Pastor Jeanine I. Rishel officiating.  Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Cause for Paws, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
