Vicki Casey Cook, 77, of Hutchinson, died September 24, 2019, after a short illness at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born June 1, 1942, in Newton, to Edward A. and Fern (Ullum) Strasser.
Vicki worked as a realtor in Great Bend and a floral designer for Don’s Floral in Hutchinson. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her flower garden, painting pictures, and baking for her family. Vicki was a member of The Father’s House, Hutchinson.
She married Sam Casey on October 19, 1959, in Lyons. They later divorced. On April 15, 1992, she married Richard ‘Dick’ Cook in Littleton, CO. He died November 25, 2016.
Vicki is survived by: daughters, Chauncey (Blake) Ford, Hutchinson, and Shairlyn (Greg) Wasinger, Scott City; son, Shane (Inna) Casey, Valley Center; stepsons, Darren (Susan) Cook, Hutchinson, and Randy (Julie) Cook, Andale; sisters, Sherry Edwards and Candy Elting, both of Whitewater; brother, Dennis Strasser, Peabody; grandchildren, Gage (Alyssa) Casey, Kennedy and Piper Wasinger, Kaleb Casey, Abbie Casey, Emily Corbett, Igor Matvieiev, Harrison, Hayden and Sydney Cook, and Jake and Amanda Cook; great-grandson, Tobias Casey; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Sandra Matzenbacher, Jackie Converse, and Lorene Watts; and brothers, Larry, Blake, Buddy and Michael Strasser.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2019, at The Father’s House, 1505 E. 20th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Bishop Quintin Moore officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Mary Ruth Priddle Deck, 96, of Hutchinson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at her residence. She was born February 14, 1923, in Haven, to Leo Thomas and Elizabeth Lolita (Hall) Priddle.
Mary was a 1942 graduate of Haven High School. On October 15, 1943, she married Laurence Herbert Deck, in Hutchinson. They shared over 71 years of marriage prior to his death on April 10, 2015.
Her faith in God and her Savior Jesus Christ never waivered. Mary will forever be remembered for her incredible strength, love, and grace. The family takes great comfort knowing that she was ready to be greeted by her Lord and loved ones that she had missed dearly.
She is survived by: daughter, Priscilla Gilmore, Hutchinson; son, Lyle (Yolande) Deck, McPherson; grandchildren, Paul and Lori Pattinson, Jennifer Adams, Adriene Robinett; great-grandchildren, Casey and Cortney Pattinson, Hayley, Zander and Aiden Robinett; great-great-grandchild, Blayne Pattinson; and four stepgrandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Laurence Deck; brother, Richard Priddle; sister, Florence Blair; and daughter, Laura Jean Ward.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Valley Township Cemetery, Haven. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Delma “Jean” Lind, 91, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Legends Senior Living Center in Hutchinson, KS.
Jean was born July 22, 1928 in LaHarpe, KS, the daughter of Claude B. and Elva (Teter) Marple. On January 29, 1949 she married Robert E. Lind in LaHarpe, KS.
Jean retired in 1988 after 22 years as a drafting clerk for Southwestern Bell. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert; brothers, Claude L. Marple and James Marple; sisters, Helen Whitworth, Esther Williams and Waunita Luedke.
She is survived by her children, Rob (Sue) Lind Jr. and Tricia (Greg) Lehmer; grandchildren, Sarah (Trey) Janak, Eric Lind, Brad (Jacquelyn) Lind and Andy Lind; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor John Hull officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Good Shepard Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.

James Nelson ‘Jim’ Carrington, 85, died September 23, 2019, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born January 16, 1934, in Fort Scott, the son of Frank and Helen (Keeling) Carrington. Jim graduated from Wichita North High School. He served for a time as a pastor in Wichita before beginning his career in the antiques and auction business. Jim and wife Carolyn owned J & C Antiques and Auction Service in Hutchinson for many years. He was also an avid golfer and worked for a time as a golf pro. Highlights of Jim’s life were caddying in a group with Ben Hogan and, at age 16, caddying for Babe Zaharias when she won the 1950 U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship in Wichita.
On March 15, 1969, he married Carolyn Ann Dow in Hutchinson. They shared 50 years of marriage before her death on August 27, 2019.
Jim is survived by: daughters, Terri Haines (Mike), Topeka, Theresa Carrington (James Johnson), Nashville, TN, Laura Carrington, Knoxville, TN, son, Doug Trent, Belo Horizonte, Brazil; grandchildren, Chad Haines (Jameia), Overland Park, Branon Haines (girlfriend, Tosh Niesen), Longmont, CO, Jared Haines (Sandy), Topeka, Caitlyn Little, Nashua, NH; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Schroeder, Springfield, MO.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Richard and Gary; and sister, Frances Pellett.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2019, at Elliott Chapel. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Sylvia Nisly, 85, died September 22, 2019, at Wheaton House, Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born March 11, 1934, in Nowata, OK, the daughter of Eli F. and Alma (Miller) Nisly.
In addition to being a homemaker, Sylvia was bookkeeper for her and husband John’s business, Nisly Sewing Center. She was a faithful member of Plainview Mennonite Church all her life and, along with John, was active in prison ministry at Hutchinson Correctional Facility.
On June 7, 1953, Sylvia married John Samuel Nisly in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 61 years of marriage before his death on May 27, 2014.
Surviving are: children, Joye and Ellis Miller, Hutchinson, Janie and Randy Ediger, Inman, JJ and Joy Nisly, Hutchinson, Joan and Hank Yoder, Hutchinson, Jeannie and Tim Miller, Hutchinson, JD and Pam Nisly, Hutchinson; siblings, Velma Plank, Goshen, IN, Bunny Stutzman, Dalton, OH, Cal Nisly (Orpha), Clearwater, FL, Harley Nisly (Orpha), Kalona, IA, Wayne Nisly (Luella), Dublin, OH, Liz Bender (John), Placentia, CA, Dorothy Miller (Ron), Lancaster, OH; Marv Nisly (Fern), Harrisonburg, VA, Elva Smith (Rudy), Corvallis, MT; Maynard Nisly (Ruth), Bridgeville, DE, Merle Nisly (Rita), Red Lake, Ontario, Canada; Sanford Nisly (Emily), Diamond, OH; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; granddaughter, Ashton Miller; and brothers, Vernon and Willis Nisly.
Funeral service will be 9:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Plainview Mennonite Church, 5610 W. Trail West Road, with Pastors Terry Yoder and Jeremy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the church.
