James Lee, 87, of Hutchinson, died September 21, 2019. Born March 1, 1932, at Sylvia, to Chester and Mabel (Watson) Lee.

Survived by: wife, Twila; children, Bonnie Jervis (Tim), LeRoy Lee (Robin), Sondra Lee; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded by: parents, and siblings, Lorraine and Charles.

Bernard ‘Bernie’ Koch, Jr., 65, of Hutchinson, died September 20, 2019, at The University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, KS. He was born January 26, 1954, in Hutchinson, to Bernard Eugene and Marjorie Ann (Shelton) Koch, Sr.

Bernie graduated from Partridge High School. He was a baker at the Rainbow Bakery for 30 years and a water meter reader for the City of Hutchinson. In addition to his fulltime work, he worked as a basketball official and started a lawn service business. Bernie was a member of the Bakers’ Local Union, an avid Kansas City Royals fan, and enjoyed classic cars and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. His greatest source of enjoyment was being with his grandsons and attending their various activities.

On July 14, 1973, he married Debora Crane at St. Teresa Catholic Church, in Hutchinson. They shared over 46 years of marriage.

He is survived by: wife, Debora Koch; children, Brian Koch, Jennifer (Don) McKenna, and Tim Koch; grandsons, Bishop McKenna, Orion McKenna, and Kage McKenna; great-granddaughters, Addie Trower and Atreya McKenna, all of Hutchinson; brothers, John (Doreen) Koch and Doug Koch; sisters, Kammie (Kevin) Wendler and Dana Brawner; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Jerry Stokely officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, and 9 a.m. until service time on Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Robert ‘Bob’ Eugene Regehr, of Hutchinson, was born February 19, 1940, to Abe F. and Minnie (Holzrichter) Regehr. He passed away September 18, 2019, in the care of his family and Hutchinson Regional Medical Center ICU staff. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judy.

Bob was married April 12, 1962, to Judy Roberts. She died October 21, 2014, after sharing 52 years of marriage.

He is survived by: his four children, Jeffrey Regehr, Kelly Graber, Kristin Kaiser, and Tracy Regehr; eight grandchildren, Chance, Kylee and Makayla Kaiser, Jesse, Emily and Zachary Van Dyke, and Wyatt and Jake Regehr; sister, Lois Moore; and brother, Vernon Regehr.

Bob enjoyed his life as an inventor, entrepreneur, collector, and philanthropist.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. The casket will remain closed. Relatives and friends are also welcome to a luncheon reception, in honor of Bob. It will be following the graveside service until 5 p.m. at the Rice Park Community Building, 44 Swarens Street, Hutchinson.

Margaret Joan McKinney, 83, died September 17, 2019, at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita. She was born July 27, 1936, in Wichita, the daughter of proud parents, Stanley and Margaret (Jessen) Shaft.  Joan grew up in a lively household with her four brothers: Jerry, David, Donald, John, and their dog, Sam.

She was a devoted member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, where she was active in fellowship groups, Circle, Senior Club, and Christ Care. Joan was also co-founder of The Pitch Club, meeting monthly to play cards and socialize. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, baking cookies, listening to classical and opera music, doing crosswords, jigsaw puzzles and tending her thriving indoor plants. Joan was a gifted poet and was famous for her Christmas decorating, including a tree in every room!

On June 28, 1959, Joan married her beloved husband, Wallace Gene ‘Wally’ McKinney in Hutchinson. They shared 56 years of marriage before his death on January 24, 2016. She and Wally enjoyed traveling together (both literally and figuratively), visiting every state in the United States, as well as parts of Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, and Africa. They were blessed with three children: Jan, David (who died in infancy), and Rob; as well as their granddaughter, Karen.  Joan deeply loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, as they did with her.

She is survived by: daughter, Janet and son-in-law, Hyo-Jin So of Olympia WA, son, Robert McKinney and fiancé, Kristy Wescott of Grayland WA; granddaughter, Karen So of Seattle, WA;  brothers, John (her twin) and wife Jeanne of Wichita, David and wife Elizabeth of Summerfield, FL; and many family and friends who will miss her greatly.

Joan was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Wally; son, David; and brothers, Jerry and Donald.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30^th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. Betty I. Robinson ‘Elizabeth Ann’, died September 17, 2019, at The Cedars in McPherson. She was born April 29, 1928, in New Haven, Connecticut, while her missionary parents were on furlough from China. Betty lived in China during the early years of her life.

Following her graduation from McPherson High School in 1946, Betty attended McPherson College and then entered nurses training at Wesley Hospital in Wichita. She also received certification in clinical pathology and worked for Dr.’s Lettner and Hinshaw. Betty later worked for the Hutchinson Recreation Commission and Leisure Arts Center, teaching classes in many forms of art and crafts. She worked at Dillon Nature Center before her retirement.

Betty was devoted to her son, Tom, always seeking out opportunities for his growth and development, participating in and encouraging his interests. She offered her support and help to many of Tom’s friends and went beyond the expected to provide for them as well. Their home was a welcoming place and refuge for those who needed care.

Betty was an active member of the Community Church of the Brethren, in Hutchinson. She was gifted in music and the arts. Betty shared those gifts generously with the church and others. She had a beautiful soprano voice and often sang solos for worship and special occasions. Betty led church choirs, congregational music and was always involved when her musical gifts were needed. She shared her creative gifts in the creation of beautiful stained glass windows for the church sanctuary. Betty sewed costumes and choir robes for the many religious dramas produced at the church. She served as church historian for years and also produced the church directory for many years.

Betty was a leader for Church Women United and was a passionate supporter of Mother to Mother Ministries. She gave freely of her time to those things which she believed would help make the world a better place. Betty lived a life of service, serving out of a deep love for God.

She married Paul Robinson in 1950, in Wichita, at the Church of the Brethren. They made their home near Fowler and later in Hutchinson, where they lived for many years.

Betty is survived by: son, Thomas and wife Sarah of Hutchinson; sister, Esther and husband Dean Cotton of McPherson; sister-in-law, Leona Dell Ikenberry of California; four nephews; one niece; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Ernest and Oliva Ikenberry; brother, Ernest; sister, Olivia Susan Wilson; and infant sister, Grace.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Community Church of the Brethren, 16th Avenue and Severance, Hutchinson, with Judson Hornbaker officiating. Private interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from now until service time at Elliott Mortuary.

Kathryn ‘Kathy’ A. Turner, 69, of Hutchinson, died September 18, 2019, at Salina Regional Health Center.

She is survived by: sons, Seth (Allie) Turner and Troy (Clarissa) Turner; four grandchildren; sister, Patricia Shields; brother, Donald Gariglietti; and Donald ‘Don’ L. Turner.
