Marcella “Marcy” Showalter | 1942 – 2019 |

Marcella ‘Marcy’ Showalter, 77, of Hutchinson, died September 16, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society-Hutchinson Village. She was born June 26, 1942, in Plains, to Adam Casper and Helen (Amerin) Eakes, Jr.

On March 15, 1989, she married Jack Dean Showalter in Hutchinson. Marcy was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing for her family, playing bingo, and traveling to the casinos.

She is survived by: husband, Jack Showalter, Hutchinson; children from her first marriage, Debra (David) Hindle, Kansas City, MO, Brenda (Mon) Nakano, Sammamish, WA, Peggy (Terry) Ayres, Electric City, WA, Diane (Brad) Gilbert, South Hutchinson, Lisa Green, Kansas City, MO, and Mark (Amanda) Pruitt, Hutchinson; step-children, Laura Showalter Colster, Dean Showalter, Daryl Showalter; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Agnes Knott, Meade.

Marcy was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Ray Eakes; sisters, Barbara Cox and Joyce Potter.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Chaplain Lonnie Voth officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Lorraine Marie Ramsey | 1924 – 2019 |

Lorraine M. Ramsey, 95, of Hutchinson, died September 16, 2019, at her home. She was born August 20, 1924, in Walker, MN, to Frank and Marie (Jakschi) Hohman.

Lorraine graduated from Walker High School, Walker, MN, in 1941. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church since 1948, and was a member of the St. Teresa Altar Society. Lorraine was a homemaker.

On September 11, 1948, she married Herbert E. Ramsey, Jr. in Walker, MN. He died December 17, 1993.

Lorraine is survived by: son, Hap Ramsey and wife Jean of Sterling; daughter, Kathleen Schrader and husband Charles of Goddard; sister, Patricia Prater of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Matthew Ramsey, Joseph Ramsey and wife Casey Gervais, Sarah Newberry and husband Justin; and great-grandchildren, Henry, Olivia, Nya, Celia, and Charlie.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Mary Johnson; and brother, Richard Hohman.

Parish Rosary will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th, Hutchinson, with Deacon Hap Ramsey officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with Father Michael J. Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary. The casket will remain closed.

Memorials may be made to Hutchinson Community College Endowment fund or St. Teresa Catholic Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Candace Elizabeth ‘Candy’ Kline | 1945 – 2019 |

Candace Elizabeth ‘Candy’ Kline, 74, of Hutchinson, died September 15, 2019, at her home. She was born July 21, 1945, in Wichita, the daughter of Burt L. and Virginia L. (Streeter) Whitlock. Candy graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1963 and Lindenwood College in 1967. She worked  as a reference librarian at Hutchinson Public Library until her retirement. Candy loved cooking and baking, spoiling her dogs, and spending time with her grandson most of all. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Episcopal Church Women, the altar guild, and Daughters of the King.

On April 6, 1968, Candy married Robert J. Kline in The Chapel-By-The-Sea on the U.S. Naval base in Newport News, RI. They shared 51 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: children, Christopher Kline, Katherine and John Eberly; grandson, Will Eberly, all of Hutchinson; and sister, Toni Brown, Nashville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jessica Whitlock.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Grace Episcopal Church, 2 Hyde Park Dr.,  Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. J. Ted Blakley and the Right Reverend Michael P. Milliken officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium, followed by a reception in the parish hall. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today through Wednesday at
Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cancer Council of Reno County or Hutchinson Public Library, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Sharon Nitzsche | 1941 – 2019 |

Sharon Nitzsche, 78, of Hutchinson, died, September 15, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born February 2, 1941, to William ‘Brownie’ and Eloise (Sharits) Amerine.

Sharon graduated from Turon High school in 1959. She worked for many years for the City of Turon as a librarian and city clerk.  Sharon loved her community and was very involved there. She was a dedicated EMS volunteer for many years. Sharon loved to read and collect wolves.

In October 1959, she married Dennis Ralph ‘Denny’ Nitzsche in Attica. They shared 47 years of marriage before his death on July 27, 2007.

Sharon is survived by daughter, Diana Skomal and husband Tim, Langdon; son, John Nitzsche, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Meghan Smith and husband Quanah, Oklahoma, Chelsea Penner and husband Ryan, Hutchinson, Morgan Cook and husband Trey, Iowa, and Tyler Skomal, Tennessee; sister, Vicki Wells, Dodge City; and brother, Bill Amerine, Kingman.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Denny Nitzsche; granddaughter, Ashley Nitzsche.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at Turon Community Church, Turon, with Pastor Steve Gill officiating. Burial will follow in Turon Cemetery.  Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 through October 1, 2019.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Sharon Nitzsche Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
