William John ‘B.J.’ Andrews | 1960 – 2019 |

William John ‘B.J.’ Andrews, 58, of Maize, died August 14, at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born November 11, 1960, in Landstuhl, Germany, the son of William H. and Linda E. (Jackson) Andrews. B.J. graduated from high school in Westfield, MA, and received his Bachelors degree in business from Western New England University, Springfield, MA. He worked as a Customer Retail Manager for Mondelēz International. B.J. enjoyed golfing, following his son’s soccer activities, and was an avid WSU Shockers fan. He attended Maize United Methodist Church.

On November 12, 1988, B.J. married Rebecca Ann ‘Becky’ Hornbaker in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: son, Blake Andrews of Maize; brothers, James Andrews and wife Aiden of Westport, CT, Scott Andrews and wife Stephanie of Des Moines, IA; sister, Laura DeBacker and husband Paul of Mountain View, CA; sister-in-law, Cathy Andrews of Dallas, TX; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stephen.

Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will be held in Pleasant View Cemetery, Darlow. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 22, at Maize United Methodist Church, 208 E. Academy Ave. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, at the church.

Memorials are suggested to B.J. Memorial Scholarship Fund at Maize Recreation Commission, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Diane F. Goertzen | 1944 – 2019 |

Diane Faye Goertzen, 74, of Hutchinson, died August 14, 2019, at her home. She was born August 28, 1944, in Hutchinson, to Ewell W. ‘Wimpy’ and Florence F. (Perkins) Lintecum.

Diane graduated from Buhler High School in 1962. She worked as a bank teller for Central Bank & Trust and a bookkeeper for First National Bank and Bank of Kansas. Diane enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was her five grandsons: Cody, Kaleb, Tanner, Chase, and Cole.

On November 24, 1962, she married Norman ‘Wayne’ Goertzen in Hutchinson.

Diane is survived by: her husband of almost 57 years, Wayne of Hutchinson; sons, Kevin and wife Vicki of Andover, Kurtis and wife Sally of Hutchinson, Kreg and wife Brenda of Andover; grandsons, Cody, Kaleb, Tanner, Chase, and Cole Goertzen; and brother, Robert Lintecum of Junction City.

She was preceded in death by: her parents and brothers, Billy Guy and Neil Winston Lintecum.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Montie McFerrin officiating. Burial will follow in Partridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Marvin C. Stoss | 1935 – 2019 |

Marvin C. Stoss, 84, of Hutchinson, died August 14, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born May 23, 1935, in Great Bend, to William Joseph and Marie Theresa (Pundsack) Stoss.

Marvin was a 1953 graduate of Great Bend High School, attended Kansas State University for one year, and graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1958. He obtained a Masters Degree in Biology from Emporia State University. Marvin taught school for 38 years, of which 28 were at Nickerson High School as a classroom instructor, coach and referee. He served in the Army Reserves for 11 years and was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.

On June 25, 1960, he married Esther Brougher, in Great Bend. They shared over 59 years of marriage.

Marvin is survived by: wife, Esther Stoss; sons, Steven (Penny) Stoss and Scott (Lisa) Stoss; grandchildren, Logan, Katelyn, Dalton, and Samantha Stoss; great-grandchildren, Konner and Lucy Stoss, all of Hutchinson; brother, Bill (Dorothy) Stoss, Jr.; and sisters, Alberta Bahr and Lois (Gerald) Mauler. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place. Parish Rosary will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2019, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, both officiated by Father Michael Kerschen. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2019, at Great Bend Cemetery, 4500 Broadway, Great Bend. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. Visitation with the family present will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2019, at Holy Cross Catholic School Gymnasium, 2633 Independence Road, Hutchinson.

Eddie Graham | 1917 – 2019 |

U.S. Veteran

Eddie Graham, 101, formerly of Hutchinson, died August 14, 2019, at home. He was born September 5, 1917, in Wagon Mound, NM, to Maximiano and Maria (Torrez) Graham.

Eddie graduated from high school in Las Vegas, NM, and Salt City Business College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1946 and was a survivor of the Bataan Death March. He received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster medal, Bronze Star, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Defense Ribbon, and Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon. He was a life member of V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361 and the American Ex-Prisoners of War. Eddie was a self-employed carpenter and an avid card player – especially Rummy. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, and Holy Name Society at the church. For 25 years Eddie made Rosaries and gave them away.

On September 10, 1949, Eddie married Dorothy Garcia in Hutchinson. They shared 48 years of marriage before her death in on May 8, 1998.

Eddie is survived by: son, Randy Graham and wife Patty, Colwich; granddaughters, Stacy Mann and husband John, Las Vegas, NV, Shelly Tracy and husband Bryan, Wellington, Stephanie Dyer and husband David, Wichita, Danielle Montes (Adrian), Hutchinson; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Graham (Mary), South Hutchinson, Gene Pacheo (Isabel), Albuquerque, NM; numerous, nieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers and sisters, Joe Graham, Feliberto Graham, Juanita Graham, Emma Graham, Benjamin Graham, Alfonso Graham, Vergie Graham, Antonia Graham, Hugh Graham, and Tony Pacheo.

Parish rosary will be 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2019, led by Father Charles Seiwert. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2019, led by Father Ned Blick, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple St., South Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, 1-8 p.m, and Monday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends at the church following the rosary.

Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or Combat Warriors, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
