Lucille ‘Lucy’ Keller, 80, of Hutchinson, died August 7, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born August 27, 1938, on the family farm southeast of Preston, Kansas, to Enos and Gladys (Aves) Roush.

Lucy graduated from Preston High School in 1956. For over 30 years, she was a rural Reno County United States mail carrier, serving primarily the communities of Arlington and Partridge. Lucy attended Heritage Baptist Church, Wichita.

Lucy loved to play golf with her friends at Carey Park. Her family though meant everything to Lucy. She enjoyed fishing and playing golf with her late husband, Darrell. Lucy and Darrell also enjoyed playing in golf tournaments throughout the United States with Lucy’s siblings and their spouses. No matter what Lucy faced, she always had a smile on her face, was wise beyond her years, and was loved by all. Lucy will be greatly missed by her family.

On September 4, 1959, she married Darrell Dee Keller in Cunningham. He died July 21, 2010, after almost 51 years of marriage.

Lucy is survived by: son, Jeff Keller (Patty) of Haven; sister, Lois Guthrie of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Daniel, Jamie, Andrew, Michael (Cassie), and Katie Keller, Jack McLaurine (Kayla); great-grandchildren, Joseph Bess, Bryant, Russell, and Amiyah McLaurine; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter and son-in-law, Lyn and William McLaurine; and brothers, Frank and Melvin Roush.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Larry B. Olson officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Iuka Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

James Leroy ‘Jim’ Whiteford, 72, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 10, 1947, in Sumner, IA, the son of Charles L. and Ruth J. (Edel) Whiteford.

Jim graduated from high school in Maynard, IA, and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1967-1971. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Bombardier in Wichita. Jim enjoyed woodworking and working on cars. He was especially proud of his rebuilt 1926 Roadster. Jim was also a military history buff and enjoyed collecting WW2 memorabilia. He was a member of First Congregational Church, Hutchinson.

On February 3, 1984, Jim married Teresa J. ‘Teri’ Davison in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: niece, Jeri Brown (Tom), Kansas City, MO; cousin, Bill Whiteford (Ann), Sumner, IA; mother-in-law, Paulette Davison, Hutchinson; and sister-in-law, Colleen Davison, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Linda Modlinski; and father-in-law, Kent Davison.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019, at First Congregational Church, 3410 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force honor guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Billy Eugene Schrock, 85, of Plevna, died August 5, 2019, at his residence. He was born August 3, 1934, in Plevna, to William and Bertha (Stuckey) Schrock.

Billy graduated from Plevna High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a mail clerk for the United States Post Office and retired after 28 years of service. Billy served in the United States Army, was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and a member of the American Postal Workers Union. He was an avid Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragon fan and attended the National Junior College Athletic Association Basketball tournament every year.

On May 22, 1964, Billy married Darlene Frye in Hutchinson. They shared over 55 years of marriage.

He is survived by: wife, Darlene Schrock, Plevna; daughter, Barbara (Dwane) Jones, Pratt; son, Johnny Schrock, Salem, OR; daughters, Tina Howell, Hutchinson, and Wendy (Jesh) Batra, Lewisville, TX; sister, Elnor Gear, Boulder City, NV; brother, Gene (Mary Ellen) Schrock, Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Marilyn Schrock, South Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Toni Trotter; grandson, Jeremy Ellis; sisters, Mildred Schrock and Kathryn Koons; brother, Richard Schrock; brothers-in-law, Calvin Bailey and Roy Gear.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. to service time on Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Dwight R. Freuler, 86, of Hutchinson, died August 2, 2019, at Legend of Hutchinson. He was born September 11, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, to Otto Edward and Adolphine Johanna (Schrott) Freuler.

Dwight graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City in 1951. He enjoyed fishing, traveling with his parents, and watching old television shows and movies. But most of all, Dwight enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dwight retired after 20 years (18 years without missing a day of work) as a stock clerk for Robinson’s Department Store in Santa Barbara, CA, where he worked from 1968-1988. In 1995, Dwight moved to Hutchinson to be closer to his cousins. At that time, he did not know how to drive. So at the age of 63, Dwight took Driver’s Education classes at Hutchinson High School. After passing his driver’s education test, Dwight drove for 22 years. He was dependable, honest, a perfectionist, and loved all his cousins dearly.

Dwight is survived by: cousins, Charlotte Wagner and husband Larry of Hutchinson, and their children, Jeremy, Amy, Brett, and Brad; Sharon Schneider and husband Randy of Eden Prairie, MN, and their children, Wendy, Shaun, and Kelly, Brad Schrott of Federal Way, WA, and his son, Greg; Craig Schrott and his son, Ethan; Jake, his ‘Lucky Dog’; and his tremendous neighborhood friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; grandparents, Edward and Mary Schrott; aunts and uncles, Joe Schrott, Frank Schrott, Hilda Schrott, Marie Schrott, Adolph Schrott, Leonard Schrott; Freuler cousins, Buddy Schrott, Charlie Schrott, Joyce Wittman; and cousin Brad’s wife, Linda.

Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Dwight’s home in Hutchinson. Private family inurnment will take place later in the day in Nekoma Union Township Cemetery, Rush County.

Our beloved Susan Walker went to be with our Heavenly Father on August 2, 2019, after a courageous fight against cancer.

Born to Harley and Marjorie Irvin of McCracken, Kansas, on their sixth anniversary, she grew up on the family farm with her sisters Vicky, Penny and Sally and brother John. In 1967, she married the love of her life Denzil Dennis Walker and they had a marvelous 52-year marriage. Dennis and Susan moved to Dalhart in 1979 and farmed west of town. Their legacy includes three wonderful children, Brian Walker of Dalhart, Tammy McAllaster of Midland, and Natalie Corona of Lubbock. After family, Susan’s lifelong passion was teaching which she did in various venues for over 30 years. Her passion quickly transitioned to her grandchildren, Kenadee Walker, Evan McAllaster and Danny Corona. We will always remember her faith, love of family, kind spirit, passion for serving others, and waiting in the car for her after church on Sundays while she visited with everyone who attended church.

She is survived by her husband Dennis; son Brian Walker and wife Shawn, daughter Tammy McAllaster and husband Chad, daughter Natalie Corona and husband Ryan; grandchildren Kenadee Walker, Evan McAllaster and Danny Corona; sisters Vicky Overley and Sally Irvin, and brother John Irvin; step grandchildren Stephanie Ellis, Jordan Tooley and Josh Tooley; step great-grandchildren Carter, Holden and Slate Ellis, and Bryar White.

In heaven, she joins her parents Harley and Marjorie Irvin and sister Penny Betz. We will always love and miss her.

The funeral service was held at the First Christian Church in Dalhart, TX, on Tuesday, August 6, Barry Walker officiating. Interment will be at the McCracken Cemetery, McCracken, KS on Wednesday, August 7, at 10 a.m.
