Jackie M. Orr | 1929 – 2019 |

Jackie M. Orr, 89, of Hutchinson, died July 29, 2019, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born August 30, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Lyle and Bessie (Fondaw) Smiley.

Jackie was a cook and cafeteria assistant at Hutchinson High School for 17 years and was known affectionately as ‘Mom’ to the students. She enjoyed playing bingo, dancing the ‘Jitterbug’, but her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.

On December 3, 1988, she married Jack C. Orr in Hutchinson. They shared over 30 years of marriage.

Jackie is survived by: her husband, Jack C. Orr, Hutchinson; daughter, Marsha Flummerfelt, Ulysses; son, Kelly Cox, Fordland, MO; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joann Shotton, Ponca City, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Michael ‘Mike’ L. Hayden.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 1 p.m. to service time Friday at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Diversicare of Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Michael Stephen “Mike” Hobbick | 1950 – 2019 |

Michael Stephen ‘Mike’ Hobbick, 69, of Hutchinson, died July 27, 2019. He was born June 5, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Keith and Barbara (Skellinger) Hobbick.

Mike graduated from Hutchinson High School. He was a retired truck driver for Rawhide Trucking and J & H Trucking. Mike was an avid fan of NASCAR and raced sprint cars.

He is survived by: daughter, Amy (Scott) Miller, Maize; son, Chad Hobbick, Wichita; sisters, Sandy (Dean) Wedman, Ginger (Fred) Werth, all of Hutchinson, Janet Hobbick, Drexel, MO; and grandsons, Blake and Cole Miller, Maize.

Mike was preceded in death by: his parents, Keith and Barbara Hobbick; son, Ryan Mitchell Hobbick; and brother, Doug Hobbick.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Ray Kempel officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family to greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time Friday, August 2, 2019.

Memorials are suggested to the Hutchinson Zoo, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Ellen A. Gorsky | 1937 – 2019 |

Ellen Ann Gorsky, 82, died July 24, 2019, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson.  She was born January 14, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the only child of James Francis and Wilma J. (Thiessen) Malloy.

Ellen graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Wichita and attended Oklahoma State University for two years.  She was an interior designer, working at Hinckley Interiors and also a homemaker.  Ellen was a member of Prairie Dunes Country Club and First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson.

On February 26, 1965, she married Joseph Leroy Gorsky in Hutchinson.  He died March 16, 2013, after sharing 48 years of marriage.

Ellen is survived by:  children, Marvin Gorsky and wife Kathy of Topeka, Byron J. Radcliff and wife Cynthia of Steamboat Springs, CO, Anne Venema and husband Rick of Chester, VA, Robert Radcliff and wife Amanda of Chicago, IL,  Katherine McClary and husband Justin of Overland Park; grandchildren, Kristen Mentasi, Byron W. Radcliff, Chris Cromer, Katie Cromer, Gordon, Alex, Kelsey, Andrew, Quinten, Margaret, and Parker Muir; and two great-grandchildren, Owen Mentasti and Wyatt Herman.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial service will be held time 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman Street, Hutchinson, with Keith Neill officiating. Private inurnment has taken place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Cosmosphere International SciEd Center & Space Museum, Hutchinson Art Association, or Boys & Girls Club of Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
