Jimmie L. “Jay” Beltz, Jr. | 1968 – 2019 |

Jimmie L. ‘Jay’ Beltz, Jr., 50, of Hutchinson, died July 10, 2019, at Ascension Via Christi- St Francis, Wichita. He was born August 29, 1968, in Hutchinson, to Jimmie L. and Sally Lee (Barney) Beltz, Sr.

Jay graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1987. He was a former mechanic. Jay enjoyed anything that had to do with combustion engines and remote control cars. In addition, he loved to hunt and was active in the Salt City Archery Club. Jay was a member of The Christian Church & Christian Academy.

Jay is survived by: the love of his life, Julie; daughter, Samantha Christine Beltz; stepdaughters, Mercedes (George), Charity, ChristiAnna, FaithAnne; three granddaughters; mother, Sally Beltz; sister, Vena Flax (Doug); and brother, Larry Beltz (Marquette).

He was preceded in death by his father.

Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at The Christian Church & Christian Academy, 1049 Lincoln (at the corner of 11th and Lincoln), Hutchinson, with Pastor Larry Ellsworth officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Lottie Louise Morris | 1927 – 2019 |

Lottie Louise Morris, 91, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She was born August 14, 1927, to Murl and Lottie (Porter) See, in Garber, Oklahoma. Lottie graduated from Haven High School.

On March 24, 1947, she married Oral J. Morris in Hutchinson. Her husband of 56 years passed away June 21, 2003.

Lottie is survived by: sons, Gary and wife Bonnie of Nickerson, and Leon; daughter, Linda Ruckman and husband Ron, all of Hutchinson; five grandchildren, Jodie Engelland and husband Brent of Nickerson, Jackie Humphreys and husband Nathan of Ozark, MO, Jeremy Ruckman, Jonathan Ruckman and wife Janon, Joseph Ruckman and wife Lori Frank, all of Hutchinson; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Juanita Mobray and Pam Kusick; and brother, William See.

Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Memorial suggestions are to Hutchinson Public Library, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Lola Mae (Fornwalt) Franklin | 1935 – 2019 |

Lola Mae (Fornwalt) Franklin, 84, of Hutchinson, passed away at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center on July 9, 2019, peacefully following her beloved husband into heaven.

She was born to Oliver ‘Dewey’ and Lora (Benjamin) Fornwalt on May 25, 1935. She graduated from Partridge High School in 1953 and then went on to earn her associates degree from Hutchinson Community College in 1971, her bachelors degree from Sterling College in 1972, and a Library Science degree from Wichita State University in 1978.

On August 27, 1955, she married the love of her life, Bill R. Franklin, at Partridge Community Church. They were completely devoted to one another over 60 years, walking through life hand in hand. They had two children, Debora Kay and Bill Eugene, and raised them both on the family farm in rural Hutchinson. Over the years, Lola was a beloved teacher, farmer’s wife, homemaker, ‘hired man’, as well as a switchboard operator.

She was a member of Partridge Community Church. Lola loved to read, and over the years, she made dozens of beautiful cakes and created many outfits on her sewing machine. She was an amazing cook and kept the entire family fed with huge meals that spanned her long table and lavished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with lots of love.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; brothers, Leslie and John Fornwalt; sister, Eva Hirst; and son, Bill E. Franklin.

She is survived by: daughter, Debora (Ray) Miller of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Joann (William) Drummond of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Bill M. (Kristin) Franklin of Buhler, Matthew (Ashley) Franklin of Sterling, Anthony (Jaime) Franklin of Granby, CO, Lindsey (Joey) Young of Hutchinson, Megan (Derek) Law of Hutchinson, Travas and Alaina Brenner of Silverthorne, CO; great-grandchildren, Adeline, Ella, Lillian, and Samuel Franklin, Avery and Addie Franklin and Kaden Ketterl, Evelyn Franklin, Emilia Law, Tayden, Tannan and Aniaya Brenner; and brother-in-law, Allen Hirst of Hutchinson.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Sheridan Irick presiding. Inurnment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Darlow. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Elliott Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Partridge Community Church or American Heart Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Stacy Lee VanAsselt | 2019 |

Stacy Lee VanAsselt, 54, of Hutchinson, passed away in her home, Saturday, July 6, 2019. She was a graduate of Buhler High School and spent her entire adulthood in the Hutchinson community.

Stacy’s life was spent dedicated to caring for and loving others. She worked at Union Valley Grade School, where she shared her heart caring for a generation of children. At another time, Stacy worked at the Hutchinson Clinic, caring for every patient she interacted with. As a stay-at-home mother, and devoted grandmother affectionately referred to as ‘Grammy,’ she instilled her values and love with her children and grandchildren. It is impossible to measure the impact that Stacy made in her all-too-short time in this world.

She is survived by: her parents, Linda and David VanAsselt, Hutchinson; children, Zachary Kunze (Kristen), Overland Park, Ezekiel Kunze (Courtney), Hutchinson; sisters, Kimberly McClain (Steve), Chicago, IL, Bobbi VanAsselt Strayer, Lawrence, Stephanie Dawes (Craig), Buhler; grandchildren, Samantha and Benjamin; nephews, Seth, Jacob, Logan, and Dylan.

Stacy was a lifelong dog lover. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lifeline Animal Placement & Protection, Wichita, Pawsitive Tails, Kansas City & Topeka area, or Wayside Waifs, Kansas City, MO. All three organizations are no-kill animal protection services and would be the best way to honor Stacy’s memory.

Alice Schneweis | 1924 – 2019 |

Alice Schneweis, 94, of Wichita, died July 9, 2019, at Park West Plaza Retirement Community, Wichita. She was born November 17, 1924, to John and Louisa (Beran) Boor, Sr., in Odin, KS.

Alice was a 1943 graduate of Odin High Sc

On May 6, 1946, she married Ambrose A. Schneweis at the Holy Family Church in Odin. They shared over 73 years of marriage.

She is survived by: husband, Ambrose A. Schneweis; daughters, Elaine (Keith) Myers, Hutchinson, Linda Schneweis, Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Lori (Tracy) Clem, Wichita; three grandchildren; one step-grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by: her parents; infant son, Ambrose Schneweis, Jr.; four brothers; and 12 sisters.

Parish Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Avenue, Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at the church, both officiated by Father Michael J. Maybrier. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019, at LaCrosse City Cemetery, LaCrosse, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

David Herman “Dave” Morgan | 1938 – 2019 |

U.S. Veteran

David Herman ‘Dave’ Morgan, 80, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, July 7, 2019. He was born October 30, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Hubert Edward and Anna (Briggs) Morgan.

Dave was a graduate of Nickerson High School, Hutchinson Community College, and Fort Hays State University. He was a United States Army Veteran, member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and Hutchinson Kiwanis Club. Dave was a farmer and stockman.

On August 28, 1960, he married Sharon Lee Cooper in Hutchinson. His wife, Sharon of 58 years survives.

Other survivors include:  children, Michael and wife Linda of Peru, NY, Michelle Mathias and husband Rex of Hutchinson; sister, Martha Sanders of Pratt; and grandchildren, Alex Mathias and fiance’ Hayley of Wichita, Eric Mathias and wife Betty of Claremont, CA, Nathan Morgan, Benjamin Morgan, Emmie Morgan,  and Zachary Morgan,  all of Peru, NY.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Mic McGuire officiating. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign his book daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial suggestions are to the church or Reno County Food Bank, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
