Louis H. ‘Bud’ Henderson, 99, of Hutchinson, died June 2, 2019, at Diversicare, Hutchinson. He was born February 25, 1920, in Hutchinson, the son of Acie C. and Leathel E. (Talley) Henderson.

Bud graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1937 and then served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. He served three years as a sergeant and two years in the European theater. Bud graduated from two technical schools, one under the G.I. bill at Lubbock, TX, and American Technical at Chicago, IL. He worked at Luminous Neon and then had his own business, Bud’s Neon, altogether for 24 years. After eight years at Master Machine, he retired in 1982.

Bud was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Double Circle Sunday school class, life member of both the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68 and V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361. He liked to bowl, fish, and hunt.

On June 7, 1945, Bud married Louise C. Danford in Las Vegas, NV. She died January 14, 2013. Surviving are: sons, Louis Henderson, Jr., Huntington Beach, CA, Michael Henderson (Ranea), Hutchinson, Timothy Henderson (Beth), South Hutchinson; daughter, Patricia Miller, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Kimberly Henderson Smith, Huntington Beach, CA, Amy Henderson, Fort Smith, AR, Meghann Henderson, South Hutchinson, Shawn Fitzgerald (Randi), Boynton Beach, FL; step-grandsons, Ryan and Brett Corkins, Hutchinson; brother, Don Henderson (Barbara), Hutchinson; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, sisters, Velma Becker, Maxine Janzen, and Edith Mae Schmidt.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.

Julia Ann Billingsley, 79, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 at Sandstone Heights, Little River, KS.

She was born July 31, 1939 in Albion, NE, the daughter of Harold Charles and Velma Myrtle (Sparks) Cash.  On November 8, 1989 she married Henry E. “Hank” Billingsley in Clarksville, TN.

Julia graduated from York High School, York, NE in 1957 and attend one year of college at York Christian College, York, NE from 1957 – 1958.  She was a member of the Church of Christ in both Windom and Eastwood in Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son James Edward Whitmore Jr., a daughter-in-law Alta Whitmore, a brother-in-law Bud Whitmore and a step son-in-law, Scott Mallory.

Julia is survived by her husband Hank Billingsley of Inman; a daughter Jeri Ann Johnson of Ashland City, TN; a son John Charles Whitmore of Webb City, MO; a stepdaughter Dotty Howton of Nashville, TN; a two sisters, Marion Dee Lee and husband Ed, Norma Jean Neujahr and husband Ron; three step grandchildren and  five step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum St., Hutchinson, KS.  Visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS.  Burial will take place in the Windom Cemetery, Windom, KS.  Memorials may be given to the Julia Billingsley Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.

Heidrun (Heidi) Margaret Bussey, 80, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS.

Heidi was born August 11, 1938 in Stade, Germany, the daughter of Werner Küemmerling and Edda (Samann) Korbitz. On August 7, 1964 she married Howard Vogt in Rock Castle, WY. They later divorced.   On December 1, 1978 she married Alfred Leroy Bussey in Hutchinson, KS.

Heidi was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was an avid bowler for many years. She also held memberships with Daughters of the Nile Temple #65 and Order of the Eastern Star- Silver Leaf Chapter #464. Heidi worked for the Ramada Inn for more than 30 years as a banquet waitress.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father Albert Korbitz; husband Alfred; and a son, Terry Sutton.

Heidi is survived by Cecil Schoonover of Hutchinson; daughters, Heide Myers of Hutchinson, Christie (Dennis) Summervill of Wichita, and Tammara (Tom) Bowen of Hutchinson; sister Hilda (Jeff) Johnson of Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and soon to be one great- great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2019 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Quentin Nuttmann and Pastor Henry Blickhahn officiating. Wanda Irene Stalcup Morrison, 85, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, died May 31, 2019, at Hester Care Center of Wesley Towers, Hutchinson.  She was born April 14, 1934, in Stafford, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel Reed Stalcup and Minnie Marie Fritzemeier Stalcup.

She was active as a youth in 4-H, debate, student government, and music.  Wanda sang her first solo in church when she was three years old.  She was valedictorian and president of the Stafford High School class of 1952; attended Baylor University; graduated with honors from Kansas State University and the  Kansas University Department of Nursing; did graduate work with Teacher’s College, Columbia University, New York; and was former pediatric staff nurse at the KU Medical Center.

A longtime Hutchinson resident, Wanda was a homemaker who dearly loved her family.  She was a registered nurse.  Wanda served eight years as an elected member of the Kansas State Board of Education, of which she was Vice-Chairman, and was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of State Boards of Education and a member of its Governmental Affairs Committee.  She served on the Board of Directors of the Kansas Foundation for Excellence in Education, on the Kansas Teacher of the Year Selection Committee, on the Kansas Goals 2000 Panel, and on the Joint Committee on Governance and the Committee for the Future of Postsecondary Education in Kansas.  Wanda represented the state of Kansas at the IMTEC, International Movement Toward Education Change, conference in Berlin, Germany, in 1993.

Wanda was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a lay member of the Annual Conference for 14 years, member of the Administrative Board, a member of the finance committee, a member of the Christian Education Committee, Chairman of the Staff-Parish Committee, President of United Methodist Women, vacation-church-school teacher, and a Sunday school teacher.  She was a devoted student of the Bible.

Wanda was president of her pledge class and honor initiate of Delta Delta Delta sorority at Kansas State University, where she was a homecoming queen candidate.  She was elected to the Phi Kappa Phi national scholastic science honorary and to the Mortar Board, Omicron Nu, and Chimes national service honoraries.  She was selected as outstanding junior in Home Economics, and awarded the Danforth Summer Fellowship.

Wanda was designated by the faculty as outstanding graduate of her KU nursing class, where she served as President and Treasurer of the Kansas Student Nurse’s Association and went as a charter member delegate to the Student Division of the International Congress of Nurses in Rome, Italy, in 1957.  She studied in Europe comparing health care systems in seven European countries.

Wanda was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Kansas State University Alumni Association and a life member of the KSU and KU alumni associations.

Wanda served the local community as Professional Division Chairman of United Way, Cub Scout leader, member of the board of directors of the YMCA, President of Gracette Hospital Auxiliary at the time of the hospital’s merger, President of the Reno County Dental Auxiliary, member of the Hutchinson Hospital Building Committee, member of the Board of Directors of Friends of the Hutchinson Library, member of the Board of Trustees of Hutchinson Community College, member of the Board of Trustees of Wesley Towers, President of the Prairie Dunes Ladies’ Golf Association, member and president of Chapter CM of PEO, and president of Morgan School PTA steering committee and the Reno County Gifted & Talented Education and Hutchinson High School parents advisory committees.

Wanda was elected to the Board of Directors of the Kansas Day Club, Topeka, in 1993, and was co-chairman in 1998.  She was the recipient of the Huck Boyd ‘Volunteer-of-the-Year’ Award in 2004.

In 1998, Wanda was elected Secretary of the Republican Party of Kansas.  She served on the state Republican executive committee for 16 years and as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Reno County Republican Party and Vice-Chairman of 4th District Republicans; she was elected a Kansas delegate to five national Republican conventions, serving on the Rules Committee in 1984 in Dallas.  She was Reno County Chairman and District Co-Chairman for Senators Bob Dole and Jim Pearson, Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush, and Governor Mike Hayden.  She served on Governor Hayden’s Inaugural Committee.  She was on Senator Pat Robert’s state finance committee and Reno County co-chair and Kansas vice-chair for President George W. Bush.  She is listed in Who’s Who in American Politics.

She did volunteer work for the Red Cross Bloodmobile, Hutchinson Hospital, and the Kansas Cosmosphere.  Kansas history, traveling, and music were her avocations.  She had the female lead in Hutchinson Theater Guild’s ‘On a Clear Day’ and wrote and sang in local musical skits and parodies.

She married the love of her life, Dr. Robert T. Morrison, in Kansas City, MO, on April 7, 1958, and is survived by: her husband: three sons, Robert Torrence, Asheville, NC, Reed Thomas, San Pedro, CA, Richard Thane and wife Rebecca, Arlington, VA; three grandsons, Robert Simon Morrison, Asheville, N.C., Maximilian Casimir Morrison and Leopold Reza Morrison, Arlington, VA; a sister, Donna Stalcup Whitehouse, Stafford; five nieces; three nephews; and brother-in-law, Ron Morrison and wife Louise, Florence, Ala.  She brought joy to her family, who mourn her passing.

Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating.  Private family burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019, and Friday, June 14, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 14.  Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Richard Alan ‘Dick’ Scrogin, 83, died May 31, 2019. He was born January 12, 1936, in Wichita, the son of L. Chandler and Dorothy V. (Carrier) Scrogin. Dick graduated from St. John High School in 1954 and Kansas State University in 1959. He served in the Air National Guard from 1958-1967. Dick worked as an architect associate for several local firms. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Tau Sigma Delta (architectural honorary), KSU Alumni, life member of NRA and KSRA, and Park Place Christian Church. Dick loved his 30^th street coffee group, photography, hunting, art, model airplanes, and puttering in his shop.

On June 2, 1959, he married Dee Anne Oberg in St. John. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are sons, Scott (Tara), Omaha, NE, David, Orlando FL, and cousin Scott Royer, Greeley, CO.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Joe Koelsch.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Park Place Christian Church, 2600 N. Adams, with Pastor David Dubovich officiating. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
