Glennys E. Winkle, 87, of Hutchinson, formerly of Pickrell, NE, died June 5, 2019, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. She was born May 18, 1932, in Clatonia, NE, to Fred and Mary (Brolhorst) Schroeder. Glennys attended Clatonia Public School, Clatonia, NE, and Doane College, Crete, NE. She taught elementary school for the Beatrice Public School system and was a hotel manager for many years after that. Glennys loved animals, flowers, and plants. She enjoyed being a member of a card club and on the election board. Glennys was a member of Pickrell United Methodist Church, Pickrell, NE, where she was a Vacation Bible School teacher and coordinator. Glennys moved to Hutchinson eight years ago to be closer to her son.

On June 29, 1954, she married Rolland Winkle at St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice, NE.

Glennys is survived by: son, Terry Lee Winkle of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nephews and nieces; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Rolland; sisters, Verlinda Rehm, Madeline Rehm, Lois Tegtmeier; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Pickrell United Methodist Church, 404 W. Pickrell Road, Pickrell, NE, with Pastor Lila Bottolfsen officiating. Inurnment will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery, Pickrell, NE. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.

Because of Glennys’ love for animals, memorials may be given to the Glennys Winkle Memorial Fund (to be donated to various animal shelters), in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Julia McLaughlin, 93, died May 17, 2019 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, from complications of pneumonia.

She was employed by Dillon Companies in various departments for more than 30 years and was a longtime member of Union Valley Bible Church, where she taught Children’s Sunday School and was a faithful supporter of the church’s missions program. A loyal fan of KU Basketball and renowned baker of pastries and pies, she was a prayer warrior for family and friends.

Julia is survived by her daughter, Patricia McLaughlin, Denver, CO; brother Ralph Little (Helen), Keizer, OR; sister Margaret David, Creve Coeur, MO; and beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam McLaughlin, Hutchinson; parents Charles and Stella Little, Hutchinson; sister Frances Keener, Sierra Vista, AZ; and brothers Harold Little, Pretty Prairie, KS; and Howard Little, Oklahoma City, OK.

Neva Kay Austin, 81, of Hutchinson, died June 3, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  She was born August 24, 1937, to Arnold and Alice (Heidebrecht) Esau, in Hutchinson.

Neva graduated from Buhler High School, and later attended Hutchinson Community College, and Bethel College, where she studied, among other things, Plattdeutsch.  She enjoyed sharing the love of this language with fellow students.  Neva was passionate about helping the elderly.  In 1980, she became supervisor for the elderly and disabled for the Harvey County Homemaker Program for Social and Rehabilitation Services, Newton.  She served in this position for ten years.  She was highly creative.  Neva enjoyed tole painting and wood carving, and shared her love for the trade with others in the art classes she gave.  Neva also taught piano lessons, and sang in various musical groups throughout her lifetime.  One of her biggest joys was teaching step-grandsons, Hunter and Fischer, to play the piano by ear.  Above all, Neva loved to entertain. She enjoyed opening up her home to family and friends, hosting holiday parties, pool parties, and barbeques.  Neva was an avid sports fan, especially football.  She enjoyed golfing with friends and her late husband, Elden.  Throughout the years, Neva taught Sunday School and Bible School, was a member of the Moundridge Study Club, PEO of Hutchinson, and Sassy Lassies Golf Group.

Neva was a member of the Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge, and Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

On June 3, 1955, she married Duane D. Goering.  He died March 10, 1992.  Neva married Dr. Elden R. Austin, on September 18, 1993.  He died August 21, 2018.

She is survived by:  son, Dr. Mark Goering (Sheila), Enid, OK; daughter, Dawn Hamilton (Kent), San Antonio, TX; foster daughter, Sonja Engwall (Dwight), Douglass; stepsons, Jeffrey Austin (Lisa), Overland Park, Joel Austin, McKinney, TX, Jason Austin (Catherine), Houston, TX, and Dr. Jonathan Austin, Hutchinson; grandson, Tyler Goering, Denver, CO; granddaughters, Allison Johnson, Scottsdale, AZ, and Ashlyn Johnson, Wichita; step-grandchildren, Olivia, Bennett, Genevieve, Jensen, Nicklaus, Reese, Hunter, and Fischer.

Neva was preceded in death by:  her parents; husbands, Duane D. Goering, and Dr. Elden R. Austin; and grandson, Zac Ackman.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary.  A time of sharing with friends and family will held from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Eden Mennonite Church, 401 18^th Avenue, Moundridge, KS.  The graveside service, with Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating, will be held immediately following the time of sharing at the Eden Mennonite Church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to TECH of Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. James M. ‘Jim’ McCarty, 99, of Hutchinson, died June 3, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson Village.  He was born May 24, 1920, in Great Bend, to Charles Edward and Josephine (Tucker) McCarty.

Jim worked as a meat cutter for Thies Packing in Great Bend and Winchester Food in Hutchinson, retiring as a truck driver for Winchester Food. He served in the United States Army during the European Theatre of World War II.  Jim was a member of American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68 and Loyal Order of Moose #982.  He was fiercely independent, living in his own home until March.  Jim enjoyed playing poker and listening to ‘Big Band Music’.

On June 21, 1944, he married Jean Buckley in Topeka.  She died September 27, 1995.

Jim is survived by:  daughter, Carolyn ‘Susie’ Sims and husband Mike of Hutchinson; granddaughters, Julie Westall and husband Jeff of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Amanda Rigg of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Jordan Westall, Jenna Dickall and husband Josh, Jacob Westall and wife Brittany, Aislynn Boor, Ehtan Rigg, Evan Rigg; four great-great-grandchildren, (with one on the way); and companion, Arlene Shaver, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; son, Leslie Edward McCarty; and two sisters.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastors Tim Adrian and Eldon Smith officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.   Private family inurnment will take place in the Great Bend Cemetery.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Society, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Brian Eugene Sollers, 52, passed from this life on June 1, 2019. He was born November 25, 1966, in Salina, the son of Albert E. ‘Gene’ and Marjorie L. (Johnson) Sollers. Brian graduated from Hutchinson High School and worked as a welder for Agco Corporation, Hesston, for over 30 years. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard for 32 years, retiring as Sergeant First Class. Brian loved doing anything outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by: daughters, Cassie Schneider (Joe), Hutchinson, Caylee Navarro (Nicholas), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Clayton Pretz, Adleigh and Paisleigh Schneider, Hayden, Ethan, and Mason Navarro; father, Gene Sollers (Janet), West Jordan, Utah; mother, Marjorie Sollers, Roanoke, Texas; sister, Georgia Hardesty, Hutchinson; uncles, Jerry Sollers, Wichita, Harold ‘Butch’ Johnson (Carmen), Concordia; aunt, Audrey Wikle (Darell), Wichita; niece, Crystal Vinduska (Tommy), Hutchinson; great-niece, Jaden Vinduska; best friend, Jason McClure (Brooke), Hutchinson; and several cousins.

Brian was preceded in death by: grandparents, Lowell and Mildred Johnson; uncle, Larry Johnson; and aunt, Shirley Prather.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2019, at The Father’s House, 1505 E 20th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Sean Faulkner officiating. Trunkalino Velasquez ‘Trunkie’ Vieyra, 86, died Saturday, June 1, 2019, at his home. He was born July 6, 1932, in Hutchinson, to Luis C. and Bibiana (Velasquez) Vieyra.

Trunkie attended Hutchinson High School and graduated from Hutchinson Community College. He served in the United States Army for 21 years, retiring as Sergeant First Class in 1972. During both the Korean and Vietnam Conflict, Trunkie was a member of the 101st Airborne.  Trunkie then worked at Dillons Warehouse. He was a member of V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Knights of Columbus #612 (Third Degree), and Teamsters Local #795. Trunkie was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, South Hutchinson, and lifetime member of ‘Holy Name’ at the church. He was a Golden Gloves boxing champion and boxed on the team while serving in the Army. In addition, Trunkie was the co-founder of Los Paracaidistas (a parachute organization).

On June 7, 1958, he married Erlinda Flores in Hutchinson.

Trunkie is survived by: his wife of almost 61 years, Erlinda; children, David Vieyra and wife Irene of Salina, Michael Vieyra and wife Kathy, Edward Vieyra and companion Marla Booher, Raylene Selgrade and husband Mike, Lawrence Vieyra and wife Michelle, Barbara Vieyra, all of Hutchinson, Carolyn Vieyra and companion, John Dye of Wichita; brother, Daniel Vieyra and wife Sara of Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Felecia ‘Lisa’ Vieyra; sister, Nellie Garcia; and brothers, Jesus, Bacilio, Jesus (Chickie), Pete, Frank, Rojelio, and Charlie.

Parish Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, with Father Todd Shepherd officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2019, at the church with Father Ned J. Blick officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
