Bretley Hunter Owens, 61, of Hutchinson, peacefully passed away March 15, 2019, in Wichita, encircled by his beloved family and friends. He was born November 26, 1957, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hutchinson, the son of Leslie and Constance Owens. Bret graduated from high school in Aurora, NE, in 1976. He was a member of the Methodist church and a born-again Christian. Bret was a businessman, owning and operating Owens’ Optical in Hutchinson for 14 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Les Owens, and sister, Vickie Lynn Owens.

Bret is survived by: mother, Constance Owens, Hutchinson; sister, Stephany Miller (Jim), Aurora, NE; brother, Bradley A. Owens, Hutchinson; nephew, Riley Miller, Aurora, NE; and niece, Cameron Owens, Hutchinson.

A private family burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.

Larry David Howes, Sr., of Hutchinson, died Thursday, March 14, 2019. He was born September 9, 1953, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Howard and Billie Mae (Seward) Howes. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran, serving in Desert Storm as a bomb expert. Larry was a warehouse foreman for Showalter and Stellar Fireworks, an avid Denver Bronco’s fan, and loved to fish in his spare time.

On February 27, 1993, he married his wife of 26 years, Kathy L. Balding, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, David Howes, Jr. of Wichita, Molly King of Waxahachie, Texas, Jarod Howes and wife Jenny of Texas; stepsons, Patrick Tippie and wife Amy of Hutchinson, Michael Tippie and wife Cameron of McGregor, Texas; brother, Ed Howes and wife Linda of Hutchinson; half-sisters, Robin Osenbaugh and husband Melvin of Turon and Thelma Minium and husband Kenny; half-brothers, Jessie Tracy and wife Lucy, and Roy Tracy, all of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Rose of Salina; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Howes.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Visitation with family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by the McConnell Air Force Honors Team.

Charles ‘Charlie’ Sader, of Hutchinson, died March 14, 2019, surrounded by his family at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born December 29, 1936, in Leoti, to Daniel and Molly Sader.

Charlie graduated from Leoti High School. He retired as an electronic technician with the Federal Aviation Administration. Charlie was a member of the Central Kansas Gun Club and an avid KU basketball fan. He was of the Catholic faith.

On June 4, 1956, he married the love of his life, Mary J. Crowl in Scott City. She died January 13, 2010, after sharing 53 years of marriage.
Charlie is survived by: children, Greg (Sherri) of Charleston, SC, David of Knoxville, TN, Deborah Pittman (Byron) of Holcomb, Pam Jantz of Hutchinson; sister, Gloria Long of Leoti; grandchildren, Joshua Sader, Kimberly Sader, Matthew Naab, Mark Sader, Anthony Sader, Jessica Busby, Bryan Vanderweide, Timothy Vanderweide, Steven Jantz, Zachary Jantz; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Madison, Cody, Alexis, Dominic, Kristin, Chole, Madison, Alexander, Eliana, Adalene, and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family graveside service will be held in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

John Marion Greer, 98, of Langdon, died on March 13, 2019, at Homestead Leisure in Stafford. He was born September 5, 1920, to Fred and Matilda (Raines) Greer near Langdon.

He married Virginia Cunningham Wells on September 4, 1948, at Langdon. She proceeded him in death on April 28, 2018.

John attended school in Langdon and graduated from Langdon High School in 1939. After high school, he attended the Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed being a sports spectator. John loved reading, especially his newspapers. He enjoyed his pet Collies and sharing stories of their intelligence. He thrived on buying and selling farm machinery and especially loved the chase of a bargain.

John was a member of the Turon Community Church.

He was preceded in death by: his wife; parents; sister, Frances Raines; infant brother, Lawrence; and stepson, Ron Wells.

John is survived by: grandson, Scott Wells and wife Penny of Dodge City; granddaughter, Terri Nazarenus and husband Corbin of Divide, CO; three great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a niece; two nephews; and special friend, Karen Moore.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019, at Turon Community Church, 411 Main St, Turon, KS, with Pastor Steve Gill presiding. Burial will follow at Langdon Cemetery. Friends may sign the book Sunday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Louis Beryl Richardson, 91, of Hutchinson, died March 12, 2019, at his home. He was born April 9, 1927, in Long Island, KS, the son of Lloyd B. and Edna L. (Kincaid) Richardson.

Louis graduated from Long Island High School in 1944 and enlisted in the United States Navy and served two years until his honorable discharge in 1946. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1950 with a degree in electrical engineering. Louis then attended Columbia Bible College for two years and New Tribes Institute for two years. He worked with New Tribes Mission in Manaus Amazonas, Brazil, for 21 years as a supplier while his wife, Virginia ran the mission home. Upon returning to the U.S., Louis worked as an electrician and electrical engineer for various companies. He was most proud of his work as overseer of the Yoder Road improvement project in 1968. A highlight of Louis’ life was a Kansas Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2010.

On July 15, 1953, Louis married Virginia L. McGuire in Michigan. They shared 65 years of marriage. She survives. Also surviving are: sons, David Richardson (Vanessa), Wichita, Daniel Richardson, Newark, NJ; daughter, Debra de Oliveira (Cezar), Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Tessa Richardson-Barta (Michael), Louis Richardson, Samuel Richardson, David Richardson (Gabrielle), Grace Richardson, Emma Richardson, Jonathan Richardson, Vivian Richardson, Caetlynn de Oliveira, Michelle de Oliveira, Michael de Oliveira, Christopher de Oliveira; great-grandchildren, Elliot Richardson-Baker, Alexandria Richardson; sister, Ruth Goeldner, Fountain Valley, CA; brother-in-law, Duane Nelson, Minneapolis, KS; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Rhea Brunner and Evelyn Nelson.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Union Valley Bible Church, 1916 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at Elliott Mortuary.

Delmar Ray Crawford, 92, of Hutchinson, formerly of Greenleaf, Kansas, died March 11, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson Village.  He was born July 9, 1926, in Clifton, Kansas, to Walter and Jessie (Parker) Crawford.

Delmar attended Clifton High School, but was drafted his junior year of high school into the United States Army, where he served from 1944-1950.  He worked as a small repairman for various companies, including Hoovers and the Clifton Coop.  Delmar volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Greenleaf and served as the Greenleaf Mayor for many years.

On August 20, 1950, he married Avis Ivene Lillibridge in Clifton, Kansas. She died March 20, 1994.

Delmar is survived by:  daughter, Jeanette Hattesohl of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Richard T. Hattesohl (Edie Miller), Joe Hattesohl (Hope), Randy Hattesohl (Sandra), Mike Hattesohl (Traci), Jennifer Villarreal (Brandon); brother, Jesse ‘Veryl’ Crawford (Dixie); 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; two brothers; one sister; and son-in-law, Richard G. Hattesohl.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Ward Funeral Home, 304 5^th Street, Greenleaf, KS, with Pastor Jim Stark officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.  Burial will follow in City of Greenleaf Cemetery.  Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #235, located in Greenleaf, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
