Jenny Ione (Helm) Scott, 72, left this Earth on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, to spend eternity in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born December 5, 1946, in Wichita, to Glen and Cecilia (Fuller) Helm. Jenny was a retired head cook for Haven High and Middle School.

She graduated in 1964 from North High School in Wichita. Jenny was an active member of Westside Baptist Church.

On March 6, 1965, she married Donald J. Scott in Wichita. He died September 24, 2012.

Survivors include: sons, Randy Scott with Denise of Hutchinson, and Nathan Scott with Jaleena of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Amanda Leland with Jared of Bentley, KS, Sheldon, and Matthew Mathis, both of Hutchinson, Jenna McKay of Bernice, OK, Janessa Stringer, Natalee, and Natasha Scott, all of Belle Plaine; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Alexa Leland; sisters, Judy Winegarner of Colorado Springs, and Joy Galleher with John of Wichita; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; daughter, Danielle Dawn (Scott) Mathis.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th Ave, Hutchinson. Burial will take place 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, at New Pleasant View Cemetery in Weir, KS. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, 1:00 to 8:00 p.m.Sunday, and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Anita L. Canfield, 76, died February 11, 2019, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born January 14, 1943, in Kingman, to Merle and Mary (Caldwell) Clark.

Anita graduated from Kingman High School.  She owned ‘Trophy Town’, along with her husband, Bill.  Anita was a member of First Congregational Church, Hutchinson.

On March 30, 1962, she married Wilbur ‘Bill’ Canfield, Jr. in Hutchinson.  He died August 30, 2000.

Anita is survived by: children, Thomas Canfield (Leise) of Hutchinson, Chris Canfield (Becky) of Buhler, Debra Tuzicka (Chris) of Waterloo, Iowa; grandchildren, Liam Tuzicka, Devin Canfield, Brooklyn Canfield, Carrlee Canfield, Dustin Childs, Mariah Klusener, Taliyah Childs; great-grandson, Kellen Klusener; sister, Donna Kay Schneweis; brother, Dennis Clark; and sister-in-law, Beth Babb.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2019, at First Congregational Church, 3410 N. Beverly Jane Morford, 78, of South Hutchinson, died Monday, February 11, 2019. She was born December 6, 1940, in Denver, CO, to Marcellus and Agatha (Nemechek) Denning.

She was a 1958 graduate of Hill City High School. Beverly had been the owner of The Yarn Yard II and was presently working for Dairy Queen. She was a member of The Church of the Holy Cross.

Beverly loved to cross-stitch, knit, sew and pray her rosary.

In 1959 she married Edwin Guy Morford. They later divorced. Survivors include: children, Guy Morford and wife Karina, Penny Lindell and husband Victor, all of Wichita, Lee Morford, Amy Miller and husband Jest, all of Hutchinson, and Julie Burgess and husband Jake of Nickerson; brother, Kenneth Denning and wife Juanita of Goodland; sister, Carol Shute of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Marcellus and Agatha Denning; daughter, Faye Lynn Morford; and sister, Rita Reinecke.

Parish rosary will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 p.m. , both at The Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd., Hutchinson, with Father Michael Kerschen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Hill City, 1 p.m. Saturday, with Father Henry Saw Lone presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Luis Rey Aleman, 88, of Hutchinson, died February 10, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born August 25, 1930, in Hutchinson, the son of Arcadio C. and Rita (Garcia) Aleman.

Luis graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1948 and attended Salt City Business College. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. Luis worked at Cessna Fluid Power for 40 years, retiring as a supervisor. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, VFW Post 1361, a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Reno County. Luis also volunteered at Reins of Hope and at local elementary schools helping students with reading and Spanish.

On October 21, 1955, he married Verona A. ‘Val’ Leslie in Hutchinson. She died December 2, 2013.

Luis is survived by: children, Becky Huckabey (David), South Hutchinson, Nick Aleman (Tona), Titusville, FL, Tom Aleman (Tami), Gardner, Teresa Hays (Mark), St. John, Cori Johanning (Chad), Little River; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Aleman (Rosemary) and Richard Aleman (Melinda), all of Hutchinson; sisters, Mary Blea and Rosie Vargas, both of Hutchinson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Charles and John; sisters, Lola Torrez, Jennie Enciso, and Betty Aleman.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, officiated by Father Todd Shepherd. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Eula Marvella (Thrasher) Deming, 90, died February 10, 2019, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born July 9, 1928, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Aaron E. and Ruby C. (Atkison) Friesen. Marvella graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1945 and attended Salt City Business College. She worked as a nurse at St. Elizabeth and Hutchinson Hospitals for 45 years. Marvella then worked as a home health nurse until age 82. She loved to cook for everyone and do arts and crafts. Marvella was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

On March 12, 1953, she married Philip E. Thrasher. He died July 3, 1989. In January 1995 Marvella married Alfred ‘Frank’ Deming in Hutchinson. He survives.

Also surviving are: sons, Randy Thrasher (Brenda), Tulsa, OK, Mark Thrasher (Debbie), Hutchinson; daughter, Christi Neumann (Jim), Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Tiffany Gerken (Chris), St. Joseph, MO, Trisha Dayton (Joe), Topeka, Steven Hayse (Megan), South Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Teagen Gerken, Sullivan Dayton, Calvin Gerken, Felix Dayton, Ethan Dayton, Noah Dayton; brother, John Friesen (Carla), Basehor; stepdaughter, Cinda Waters (Randy), Kansas City, MO; stepson, Dave Deming (Danita), Hutchinson; stepdaughter-in-law, Kathleen Deming, Hutchinson; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepson-in-law, Al Deming.

A private family graveside service will be held in Arlington Cemetery with Pastor Luanne Haddaway officiating.
