Richard Eugene ‘Rick’ White, 65, died November 1, 2018, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born October 11, 1953, in Carbondale, Illinois, the son of Arthur L. ‘Art’ and Betty J. (Wantland) White.

Rick graduated from Hutchinson High School and worked at a variety of jobs, including managing movie theaters in Hutchinson, McPherson, Manhattan, Kansas, North Platte, NE, and Illinois. He also worked as a plumber in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and for the railroad and Hutchinson Correctional Facility. He retired from industrial power transmission sales at Murdock Supply, Hutchinson. He loved fishing and attending NHRA races at Heartland Park, Topeka.

Rick is survived by: sons, Leon White (Jill) and Marty White (Jessica) all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Carson, Camryn, Maelea, Maxx, and Jax White; brothers, Larry White (Chloie) and Don White (Faye), all of Hutchinson; nephew, Scott White (Sarah) of North Platte, NE; great-nieces, Alli and Collins White; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ivan ‘Van’ White.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2018, at Elliott Chapel. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.  Larry D. Friesen, 80, died October 29, 2018, at his home in Pretty Prairie. He was born January 27, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Leonard and Mildred Lee (Nickel) Friesen.

Larry graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1956 and attended Adele Hale Business College. He was a parts salesman for D. C. Potter, Kingsley-Waggoner, and Rose Motor Company. Larry served in the Air National Guard. He was of the Mennonite faith.

On June 16, 1963, he married Jeanette Gordon in Hutchinson. Larry is survived by: wife of 55 years, Jeanette of Pretty Prairie; daughter, Shelly Friesen of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Cameron Fletcher, Mason Taylor, Jayce Friesen; brothers, David Friesen, Mark ‘Butch’ Friesen (Joy); sister-in-law, Shirley Riemann (Gerald), Jeanice Quinn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James ‘Jim’ Friesen.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Don Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in North Inman Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Air National Guard. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Reta Ann ‘Ann’ Miller, 86, of Hutchinson, formerly of Abbyville, died October 29, 2018, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born June 28, 1932, in Elkhart, Kansas, the daughter of Harold W. and Ethel M. (McRevey) Shuff.

Ann graduated from Plevna High School. In addition to being a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family farm, she worked as a secretary at Boeing in Wichita for a time and also as an operator for Bell Telephone. Ann enjoyed quilting.

On October 11, 1959, she married James Franklin Miller in Plevna. He died December 4, 2017. Ann is survived by: sister, Irene Mershon of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law, Eva Brennan (Charles) of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers-in-law, Delbert Miller (Carol Tepe) of Dodge City and Edward Miller (Sharon) of Wichita; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Sharon Martin; and brother, Harold Shuff Jr.

Graveside service was held at Abbyville Cemetery.

Dorothy Marie Hartman, 91, died October 29, 2018, at St. Francis-Via Christi, Wichita.  She was born November 12, 1926, in Drumright, Oklahoma, to Carl D. and Nettie Jane (Cargill) Shaffer.

Dorothy graduated from Russell High School in 1944 and Brown-Mackie College in 1945.  She was an excellent seamstress, 4-H leader, and retired from American Drug Stores.  Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson and United Methodist Church Women.

On July 1, 1980, she married Melvin Hartman in Guymon, Oklahoma.  He died January 1, 1999.

Dorothy is survived by:  daughters, Sondra Calvin of Hutchinson, Debra Rupert of Wichita, Jane Willis of Garland, Texas, Susan Rupert of Hutchinson; sisters, Wanda Sieker of Ellinwood, Shirley Walker of Texas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; sister, Exie McPherson; son-in-law, Woodie Calvin; and the father of her four daughters, Arthur Rupert.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Lennie Maxwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.

Opal Mae Kroeker, 94, died Sunday, October 28, 2018, in Hutchinson.  She was born December 5, 1923, to Leroy and Viola (Clune) Newburn in Hutchinson.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.  Opal was also a farmwife at Castleton, cook at South Hutchinson Sale Barn and a cake decorator.   She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

On June 7, 1942, she married Bueford Kroeker in Hutchinson.  He died May 15, 1993.

She is survived by: daughters, Dixie Kellums of Derby, Twila Spaeny and Mike, and Rita Black and Jerry Ricksecker, all of Hutchinson; sons, Nolan and Dana, Jerry and Anita, Merle and Gail, Rex and Tammie Kroeker and Cletis Kroeker, all of Hutchinson; sisters, Ruby Parks and Shirley Hauschild and Ken, both of  Hutchinson; former sister-in-law, Jean Ann McKay of Hutchinson; 29 grandchildren; 32 greatgrandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; daughter, Lila Kroeker; and son, Kenny Kroeker; brothers Lee and Helen Newburn and Don Newburn; sister, Ruth and Phil Parks; and brother-in-law, Stan Parks.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., November 3, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 E 4th Ave, with Pastor Harold E. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.  Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to Cancer Council of Reno County or New Hope Baptist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
