Stephen Robert ‘Steve’ Shorter, 79, of Hutchinson, died November 5, 2018, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. He was born October 22, 1939, in Winfield, the son of Emmitt C. and Nina K. (Woods) Shorter.

Steve graduated from Cedar Vale High School, Cowley County Community College, and attended Wichita State University. He served in the United States Army from 1960-1963 and then in the Kansas National Guard. Steve worked as an agent for New York Life Insurance Company for 18 years and then as a broker with his own agency for 26 years, serving in Great Bend, Hays, and Hutchinson. After his retirement, Steve was a bus driver for Durham School Services. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson.

On December 24, 1991, Steve married Gena Sue (Holland) Moore in Salina. She survives.

Also surviving are: sons, Scott Shorter of Mission, Todd Shorter and wife Rhonda of Wichita; stepson, Chris Moore and wife Jennifer of Wichita; stepdaughter, Melisa Moore and husband Andrew Harness of Denver, CO; grandsons, Logan Shorter, Eric Harness; granddaughters, Kelsey Shorter, Caedran Moore; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Tom and Kelly; and special aunt, Margaret Webber.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Grace Episcopal Church, 2 Hyde Park Dr., Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. J. Ted Blakley officiating. Burial will follow in the church columbarium. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Episcopal Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Jack W. Pennock, 81, of Hutchinson, died November 4, 2018, at Hester Care Center. He was born May 8, 1937, in Zenda, to Earl Robert and Crete Louelle (Braden) Pennock.

Jack graduated from Langdon High School in 1955 and attended Troy University in Troy, Alabama. He retired after 30 years of service to the United States Army, where he specialized in security and communications. Jack was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361 and DAV. He attended First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson.

On August 8, 1986, he married Patricia Ann Keller in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They shared 32 years of marriage. Jack is survived by: wife, Patricia of Hutchinson; son, Michael Pennock of Oceanside, California; daughters, LeAnn Mease (Lamont) of Omaha, NE, Terri Maddox (Charles) of Keller, Texas, Charlyn Swafford of Hutchinson; sister, Louise Leady of Millington, Tennessee; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by: his parents; five brothers and sisters; son, Karl Heinz; and a grandson.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastors Josh Moore and Bones Nay officiating. Burial will follow in Lerado Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Anna Louise (Johnson) Hill, of Hutchinson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, November 3, 2018. She was born December 3, 1925, at the family farm in the house she lived in for 90 years, the daughter of Joseph Arthur and Hilma Christine (Edlund) Johnson.

Anna attended Lawson School and Haven High School, graduating in 1943, and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

On October 15, 1944, she married Dalton Stanley Hill and they began their life together on the family farm. He died April 27, 2012. Surviving are: children, Joyce Ball and husband Randy of South Hutchinson, Kenneth Hill and wife Dorothy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Cheryl Munden and husband David of Hutchinson; brothers, J.A. ‘Art’ Johnson, Jr. and John Dennis Johnson, both of California; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Helen Ludlow and Arleen Smith.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018, at Fairlawn Burial Park, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, rural Burrton, with Pastor Kim Andrews presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Wilfred W. Oldehoeft, 91, of Hutchinson, died Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Pleasant Hills in Hutchinson. He was born July 24, 1927, in Ottertail, Minnesota, to Walter and Elsie (Riggert) Oldehoeft.

He graduated from Ellsworth High School. Wilfred was a parts manager for numerous years at Chevy dealerships in McPherson and Emporia. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He proudly served in the United States Army and Navy.

On November 29, 1953, he married Ruby Jean Olson in Assaria, KS. She survives. Other survivors include: daughter, Kristine Crainer of Hutchinson; grandson, Caleb Crainer of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter, Holly Binns and husband Brad of Hutchinson; great-granddaughter, Caroline Binns of Hutchinson; brothers, Arthur Oldehoeft of Ames, IA, and Rodney Oldehoeft of Santa Fe, NM; sister, Elaine VanValkenburg of Lincoln,NE; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Mildred Eilrich; and brother, Roy Oldehoeft.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at a later date.
